Styrene Butadiene Rubber is a synthetic rubber developed as an alternative to Natural Rubber. It is recommended for service in applications involving hot and cold water, air, steam, and some weak acids.

Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR) has good abrasion resistance and an excellent impact and cut-and-gouge resistance. It can be compounded to use as skirtboard rubber, lining rubber, conveyor belt covers, tires and other extremely demanding applications. It is frequently used as a low cost general purpose gasket material.

SBR should not be used in applications involving strong acids, grease and chlorates. SBR offers little resistance to ozone and the majority of hydrocarbons.
